4. Methodology, learning tasks, syllabus and resources
4.1. Methodological overview
The methodology followed in this course is oriented towards achievement of the learning objectives. It favors the identification of ethical and legal issues of the biomedical research, as well as the relationship between the technical and scientific advances and the practical work in Forensic Medicine, Occupational Medicine and Toxicology. A wide range of teaching and learning tasks are implemented, such as lectures, seminars and research review.
Due to these tasks, the student will actively participate, and gain prominence and autonomy in the learning process.
4.2. Learning tasks
The course includes the following learning tasks:
- Lectures. The teacher intruduces research issues of particular relevance.
- Interactive seminars. Firstly, the teacher updates the main issues of the scientific topic for about 20minutes. Secondly, along the next 15 minutes, an analysis of scientific articles will be carried out. The final 20 minutes will be dedicated to discuss and draw conclusions.
- Research review.It will be held during the sessions at the end of each topic. For 55 minutes, the student must analyze a research study in Forensic Medicine from different perspectives (scientific, ethical, legal and judicial) or on Occupational Medicine or Toxicology. In those sessions, discussion with peers will be opened and final conclusions will be presented.
- Alternatively, students will have the possibility to do complementary activities on any of the content or issues analyzed, if necessary by using e-learning systems, virtual patients, etc.
4.3. Syllabus

Topic 1. INTRODUCTION TO SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH (FORENSIC MEDICINE, TOXICOLOGY AND OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE)
Topic 2. SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ON FORENSIC GENETICS, POPULATION GENETICS AND ANTIC DNA
Topic 3. SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ON OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE
Topic 4. SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH IN TOXICOLOGY
